What is a Wine Aunt/About Us

What is a wine aunt?

Some people think Wine Aunts and Karens are the same thing.
As a matter of fact, we are direct opposites.

Where a Karen will impose what she thinks is “proper” on other people for her own satisfaction, I am here to make sure everyone around me is safe and happy, obeying REAL laws, and being respectful to those around them. Karens don’t seem to realize that the bad manners they accuse everyone else of are done by them 10 fold, and they have little ability to see themselves for who they are and how they affect people around them. Wine Aunts are paying attention and understand how they affect others. Sometimes a Wine Aunt isn’t going to give your petty behavior attention so you can have the good grace to correct yourself. We give you room to fail with us. Wine Aunts have grace and compassion.

What are niblings?

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “Nibling is a gender-neutral term used to refer to a child of one’s sibling as a replacement for “niece” or “nephew”. The word is thought to have been coined in the early 1950s, but was relatively obscure for several decades before being revived in recent years.”

So to honor everyone listening and save me a few words since I say too much already, y’all are my Niblings.

Who Are We?

Your Wine Aunt

YWA has always been excited about life, and that truly extraordinary people around her bring her along on their adventures, like a back up battery; sometimes a passive attendant, sometimes a keystone to fuelling the momentum of fun and exploration. Thanks to her natural curiosity and comprehension of subjects, she is a jill of all trades, with a strong skill for a few: public speaking, acting, communication, singing, writing, organizing, event planning and coordination, storycraft and world building for games (including tabletop, video, board, larp). She has traveled a bunch, (more than 30 US States and 10 countries). Her most proud claim to fame is having so many interesting, skilled, intelligent, and gracious people who call her a friend. Born and raised near Chicago, she currently resides in California with her husband and 2 dogs.
